The Paper Orb... that didn't make the cut

A couple of weeks ago I helped throw a baby shower for my good friend Damita.

She flew in from TX and her family flew from other places to meet here and celebrate her first baby!

Her family did most of the work, I just did some of the fun stuff, the decor!  Even that, her fabulous aunt did a ton of work for!

We were all working from different parts of the country, putting our stuff together the night before the shower.  I think it all came together nicely!

I made these orbs to hang as decor, but didn't end up using them.  They didn't match the feel of the shower.

BUT, they are still so cute and I will totally use them for something else!  Happy to have them in my 'party supply stock'!!!

I thought about using old book because 1) I have a bunch of them and 2) the theme of the shower was nursery rhymes.  I thought using paper with text on it would be great!

Here is what they look like displayed on my coffee table.  Cute right?  You could also hang them!  I'll show you how!

I started with foam spheres, an old book, scissors and pins.

I cut out a bunch of circles, several pages at a time.  No need for tracing or cutting the perfect circle... ever in my mind!  They will overlap and there is no need to spend the time with such things!

I began pinning my first circle in the center, but after doing a couple I recommend pinning on the edges as they begin to overlap.  That way you can keep the circles from flapping out there...

Here is what the second one looked like.  I just placed them at random, some on top, some underneath, working my way down the sphere.  You can pin 2 or 3 edges with one pin.

If you want to hang them just insert a U pin with some ribbon tied to it.

You can even cover that with a circle if you want.

What do you think?  With the right decor these could be super cute hanging as decor.

I left my ribbon on because I fully intend to use them.  Guess I need to throw a party!

I loved hanging out with my girl!

I was fortunate the Tuesday we got to spend together M worked from home, so I got to just spend time with D.  We went to lunch, shopped, laughed our guts out, talked about baby coming.

I'm so excited for her!

Um, who buys a chef shirt for their baby?

Can you hook a girl up with a little hair cut?

She has such good timing, makes me laugh so hard!  And boy do I love to laugh!

I'll show you the shower soon.

I really feel like there are people in life that we meet, that we knew before we came here.

Do you agree?

It didn't take me long to recognize this girl, and it doesn't matter that we don't spend a lot of time together, we are bosom buddies.  Our spirits know and are connected, even though we can't remember it.

Do you have some friends like that?
