What I Wear... Winter Running

I'm often asked what I do in the winter... when I talk to friends about running.
At first I thought, what do you think I do?  I run!

Now I realize not all are inclined to brave the wind, cold, snow and ice that winter brings.
I'm quick, I know!

I did get a treadmill a few years ago, and I do use that during the winter, and the spring too, when the rain just won't let up.

But I like to get outside as much as I can.  I love running in the winter, especially when it is or just has snowed.  My routes change since some of my routes don't get plowed in the winter.
I don't mind running in the cold, the snow, the rain (warm rain), I hate the wind, but I do it anyway!
Part of my running joy is being outside.

If you dress right, you can still have a great run, even though it's cold.
Just watch out for ice!

Here is a little guide!

Running gear can be expensive, but like most things if you look, you can find good deals on name brands!  I have bought a lot of my clothing at Marshalls.  They sell all the name brand workout wear, I suppose last season, because it's affordable.  I don't spend much more than $20 on anything.

For winter running I like the fleece lined tops.
For coooold running I have 2 Nike tops that are thick fleece lined.

Layer, layer!  I have a thinner fleece lined jacket that I can put over my tops for added warmth, and to keep the wind out.
I have a SnoZu brand jacket, I think it's for skiing, for the days it is super cold.  This one is heavier weight, which can keep you warm, but adds to how heavy you run.  Really, this time of year, we're not focused on speed right?

Sidenote***  Really isn't that the greatest feeling?  When spring comes and you shed clothes and take minutes off your time!?!!!

I wear long spandex on bottom, and again, I have a pair of fleece lined bottoms for when it's super cold.

I used to wear a beanie for my head.  I think I'll still that when it's super cold.
Just recently I've tried out the headband.  I like it.

I cannot do without good gloves to keep my hands warm.  This you can't find at Marshalls!
I use Manzella and LOVE them!  They work, that is all I can say!  The weave is tight and it keeps my hands warm... and I struggle keeping my hands warm!

There you have it, running attire for your winter months.  Run on!

It may be too late to ask for running gear for Christmas.  Go ahead and buy it for your New Years Resolutions!
