So, You Like Jogging?

Last week I had a little health review.  We are changing life insurance carriers.
Talk about a job to have today... would you feel safe going into random people's houses to give a little health exam?  I know I wouldn't...

Anyway.
The little lady takes my blood pressure and says... oh, do you run?
I was like yah... (with the cool nod, because my blood pressure is that cool)... she said she could tell!
Next she took my pulse... and said yep, she could always tell.

I was like, do you want to see my six pack, do you want me to flex for you?
Kidding, but I was feeling a little cool, she could tell I was a runner... or so I thought.

After questions and weighing she was working on the computer, striking up small talk.
'So you like jogging?'

What?  Did she just ask me if I like jogging?
Do people even use that word anymore?  I guess so.
And suddenly I went from a cool runner, back in time to merely a jogger!  I guess my blood pressure isn't that cool!

No I don't like jogging!  Jogging is torture!
Matt likes to ask if I'm going jogging, because he knows it pisses me off!
I'd rather be called the bullet!
Have you seen my numbers?  I'm not an Olympic medalist, but I certainly am above average and definitely more than a jogger!

Relax... I didn't go on the tangent I just took you through.
I simply said, yes, I really enjoy running and racing.

So, let's talk about the word jogging.  These images come to mind when I hear that word...

Yes, men in ridiculously short denim shorts... it doesn't really matter what you are wearing, you barely break a sweat!

Matching track suits... again, who cares if the material is breathable... I'm not sweating!

Velour track suits and something the whole family can do together, because pace doesn't matter!

Shoes with no sole!  Ironically we are pulling this back into running, and I'm a convert to it!

Let's FF to today, where you shop at the grocery store with the likes of superheros... seriously, right?
Would you ask any of these people if they like to jog?

I mean, I can see her confusion... I wasn't wearing my spandex that day!  LOL!

Now, we don't all look like super hero's or Olympic athletes, but that's beside the point.
The point is no one 'jogs' anymore!
We run!  Yes at different speeds, but we run!
I dare say that even those who only frequent the pavement or treadmill on occasion would say they ran on the treadmill.
Asking someone if they jogged is like asking if they are lazy!
It's always best to just stay on the side of flattery, right?

That nice little lady had no idea the ideas that went through my head when she asked me if I like to jog!
Don't be scared I didn't get all crazy on her for just asking a question.
But, I will inform you that officially 'jogging' isn't a thing anymore!  WE ARE RUNNERS!!!

----------------------------------------------
Side note:  The Pilly Half Marathon is this weekend!
I'm excited to go out of town with my family!
I got my number and coral assignment via email!  I'm in the burgundy coral... the second coral, just behind the seed and elite runners!
Yikes!  Scary!
I ran 13 this weekend... see those numbers HERE on my running log.  Those last three miles are where I slowed.  I really need to stay consistent!
I'm not sure I'll be able to hit my goal of 1:35, but I'm sure gonna try!
What do you think?  Will I hit it!?
