Flashback Friday... October 2009

This  the first of many flashbacks.
Part of my purpose in blogging is to keep a record for me and my family.
Did you know I used to scrapbook?  I did... a lot!  I've been published, oh ya! (could you hear my cool person voice there?)
I have always felt it important to journal.  I have kept some sort of a journal since I was very young.
My dad kept journals and I'm forever grateful he did.  After his stroke this was a way I got to know the man he was.
I still think it is so important... if not for my kids to know themselves and what they were like as they were growing, for myself... let's face it, I have an awful memory!  If there is no photo I'm like... was I there?
I need a photo and a story, because these are the best days, and I'm sure I'll have no memory of them even 5 years down the road!
This week we went back to October 2009.
I was putting together my little pumpkin story board of the kids.
I first showed E the photos of him as a baby.  He got a kick out of that... and laughed even harder at his big brother in a superman costume!!!  It was hilarious!
That night we all sat and looked at these photos, and more from this time.
The kids loved it!  They laughed and laughed!  So, I'm flashing back!
I didn't scrapbook any of these photos... surprise!
At least here, I know they are somewhere, and although I can't remember much of a story I can tell you what I am feeling today...
What I remember:
We've established not much... in fact nothing!  I am assuming we dressed up for a ward trunk or treat, because these were not taken on Halloween.
I will say around this time I had stopped going to church.  I felt good about my choice and I was so glad to have good friends that loved me through.  I hosted a Halloween party for the Christensen's and the Preece's.  Although I know they didn't agree we were able to still just be friends, even though.
Of course that didn't stick, but that is just a whole different book I could write!

This is what I love:
I love that G is obsessed with holding the antenna's up on O's costume... and that all Q cares about is showing peace signs!
Like any child just learning to walk O is screaming mad that I want him to sit down... as you can see in a few photos, as soon as he's up, he's fine.
I love that E is just chillin'.  So easy, still is.  Once you catch his eyes, they light up.
I love that these kids are buddies.
I love that today they can look back and laugh at themselves.
I love that they are all mine!

Each of my kids were a pumpkin their first year, then a bee their second.
I have given a bunch of costumes away, but I couldn't get rid of that pumpkin costume.

G was never really into any super hero, or cartoon, or show.  He's always been nerdy, into stars and planets and numbers.  It was challenging to pick a costume for him there for a couple of years.

I had forgotten about O's teeth and how they stuck out a little.  He was my baby that had a binky the longest.  The other ones didn't really care for it.
So glad they have straightened back out.

He sees the birds.
Doesn't it make you feel good to see such joy in such simplicity?

Q was a witch for like 4 years in a row!

I have photos from the party and Halloween.
I intend to print them off and get them in a scrapbook.
Here are just a few from the Halloween party...

I'd froze plastic spiders into ice cubes for our drinks.
I dipped the glasses into colored corn syrup.
Go me... I haven't hosted a party in such a long time... miss it.

I made little hot dog mummy's for the kids.

Marci made amazing mummy costumes for her boys.  Love that Q is so mad.  She wanted her face green, then decided she didn't, probably because it didn't turn out how she thought it would.  At that point there was no turning back.  Oh how this continues on in her life!!!

What were you doing in October 2009?
