The Promise of Play... After the Work is Done

Saturday before last we all rallied and raked our backyard.

It was

full

of leaves!

How did we get our kids to rake and scoop up leaves until the job was done?

Well a few things really... (they are trained to be good workers :))

- It helps when we all work together, as a family.

- It helps when there is an end in sight, and maybe the promise of hot chocolate.

- It also helps when a portion of the work goes to play.

We worked hard and as we got leaves gathered near the trampoline we let the kids put as much as they wanted up on it.

After the work was all done they all got up there and jumped, threw leaves, buried each other, laughed, screamed, played.  

It was fabulous!

Working hard together is rewarding, so is playing together.

.. and they are still playing in the leaves a week later!
