Snow Days... And How We Kept Busy

Last Monday, after I got the kids all off to school I sat down to eat my breakfast... (11/17)

I sat at the table and enjoyed the quiet of my house.
I watched the snow fall outside.  Doesn't the world seem a little more quiet when snow is falling?

Little did I know that Monday would be the only day my kids would attend school last week! :)
We didn't see too much snow in Amherst, but much of Buffalo was hit so hard by the crazy snow band, which left 6 feet of snow in some places!

This is a record of what we did with our snow days, which we mostly spent together at home.  Although we didn't have a travel ban we didn't really go anywhere.
We are home bodies and enjoy the togetherness that comes with winter and snow days!
Matt worked from home.  He was scheduled to travel to Delaware, but that got cancelled.  Yahoo!

The kids played in the snow.  This first day there wasn't a ton of snow and it was pretty windy.
Love taking 20 minutes to get them all bundled up for a good 5 minutes outside!  They had a great time.

Q wanted to blow snow while I took a photo.  Well, ok!

Can you tell which direction the wind was blowing?  Poor O!

Love this cute girl.  She loves to be outside.

The boys all had computer time, some with dad, some with each other.  They play mine craft, star craft and friv right now.

There was plenty of puzzle time... and they have been out everyday since.  I love puzzles, unlike other activities the kids sometimes do together (which may or may not end up with them fighting, hurt and crying) puzzle time is quiet, mellow and involved.  They work together, encourage each other and use their brains.  Such a great activity!  Fighting starts = puzzle time!

This little one gets so intense when he plays!

I went ahead and used some of this syrup in my Dr Pepper and it was delightful I must say!

I also took the time to bake some bacon.  Do you bake your bacon?  Have you heard about my bacon necklace?  Isn't this just beautiful?  This is THE way to eat bacon.   Mmmmmm.

I went ahead and made us delicious BLT's.

We bought and watched Maleficent pay per view our first day home.  It was a good show.  We love snuggling up and watching a movie together.

We played the Wii, the boys have been into Madden Football as of late. They are also all about playing real football/wrestling as of late.  Many tears have been shed, but there has also been much laughter!

We built huts.

Of course TV time was had.  Q and I like to watch HGTV together.
Q loves to eat Pickle sunflower seeds while she watches TV.

More puzzles, seriously all over my floors!

There was plenty of coloring and drawing.  The kids are back into this these past few weeks.  It's funny that up until then they were not enjoying coloring in the least.  I guess when you can't go outside as much, things you weren't enjoying find new appeal.

More snow play.

I wore the same thing for like 3 days straight!  No joke.  Who needs to change when you are wearing yoga pants, they work during the day, during night, as pajamas!  And showering?  Way overrated!
G asked: Mom, what is with the bandanna?
What?  I look cool don't I?  It really keeps my bangs out of my eyes, besides looking cool! :)

I took the two little boys to Target and bought them something.  We had to get a couple of gifts so I let them pick a toy.  O chose a Nerf gun and E chose a couple of movies.  We got Arthur Christmas and Turbo.  We popped popcorn and watched Turbo on Thursday.

Q went to play with the C girls one day and another got to go shopping with them.  She had a great time and got the three of them best friend necklaces.

Matt went in to work on Friday.  I took the kids to get doughnuts and hot chocolate then we watched our Christmas movie.

They also played in the snow...  As I look at these photos I am amazed at how tall my two big kids have gotten.  Last year their snow pants were long on them.  This year they are riding high!  Oh puleeez stop growing!

I love this family of mine!  I love being with them.
This most recent week the kids had a half day because of parent teacher conferences.  Then two days of school (very nice change... I won't lie!)  Then two days off for Thanksgiving.  They have been home a lot!  Maybe it is because of the break they had last week, but I feel like these past two days have been tougher than last week was.  Whatever will we do with a 2 week Christmas break?
