The rhythm of my breath... and bubbles.

Last year I did my first triathalon... still need to blog that race.

I swam a few times during the summer, while in UT, w/ some training tips from my brother Brandon.

As I came home I swam a few times in a small lake here locally.

I actually fared pretty well out there on the open water race day, although I definitely felt like this is an area I wanted to get better.

I've been swimming once a week for the last couple of months.  I don't know how I'm doing as far as speed, I don't wear a watch in the water, but I can feel that I've gotten stronger for sure.

The day after my first workout I was so sore in my hamstrings... it felt great!  I never get sore there from running.  The next workout my arms were more sore.  Now I'm pretty much adjusted.

Normally I swim about 1400m which is around .87 miles.  One time I did go 2000m, which is 1.24 miles.  I usually can't get there early enough to go more than 1400ish.

I'm getting better.  I'm getting used to the new rhythms of kicking, stroking, blowing out and breathing in.  It's a lot to coordinate!  Last week the pool was closed for spring break, so I felt very 'off' this week with my rhythm.  I felt like I finally got it back at the end of my workout.

I've always loved the water, and I've certainly developed a quick love for swimming.

It's a good look right? :)

Last week Nat and I ran 13.  We did it in 1:46.  I'm getting closer to where I want to be.
We both agreed it was a good day to run w/ a partner.  As we ran up our one hill, which is significant, we both were silent, feeling the pain!

We both were tired on this run.  Neither asked to shorten it.  We just kept running, and we finished.  It was a good day to be together.

Yesterday was a busy day!  I had a rehearsal in the morning, then came back to get a run in before I headed out to shoot my first wedding of the season.

I went 8 miles.  It was a good tempo run.  I pretty much dreaded going though.  Yesterday was WINDY!!!  I don't mind the snow, the rain, the cold, the hot... the wind?  Detest it!  It's still cool enough that it chills me to the bone, not to mention it's like running up a hill constantly!

I actually ran it well.  1:01:56 (7:44).  Just a couple of minutes to shave off and I'm back to my normal self!

I need a good windbreaker.
