Columbus Day weekend.

It was a great moment when Sunday was almost over and I was wishing it would stay forever, then I remembered Monday is Columbus Day!  Oh ya, no school, no work... what a good day!

It has been a good weekend.  I have actually been hard at work this weekend.  Working hard at the 'business' I'm building, mostly by myself!  It has been challenging at times, exhausting at others, I've lost and I've won.

It was good to get some things solidified this weekend, update a few things on my website.  Matt was an amazing help to me.  I'm glad he is with me through this, to be my sounding board, my brain when I can't think clearly.  It has been an amazing help.  Plus, he's taken the kids so I can work!

I had, and still have a mountain of photo editing to do, but we are marching on, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I've had and that continue to come my way.

SO, other than sit here at my computer, this weekend, listening to conference, I made a fabulous new dessert/appetizer.  We had a little reception for a couple that recently got married and I made this fruit bruschetta, found here.  I watched the C kids, love them, they are easy-peasy.

Saturday we stayed in PJ's all day!  It's been a while since I've had a whole Saturday off!  We were planning on attending a work function w M&T, but it was cold, I was busy at work in my office, so we bagged it.  We did get some good naps in though...

We had the C's over for Sunday lunch.  I made meatball subs, which I haven't made for a while. Marci gave me this recipe some years ago and we sure love her spicy balls!  It was good to connect w/ our friends.  We laughed and visited as we always do.

Must say that I often think back to when we lived in VA, going to business school, and I watched these families that had many kids and vacationed together, and watched each others kids, and knew each other so well, and wondered if I'd ever have that.  Because when you are in that earlier stage of marriage and life, it hardly seems as though you'd find a place permanent enough to finally attain that!  As we maneuvered around each other in my kitchen, served each others kids, helped each other out I smiled.  I love this.  I love our friendship.  I love that I have this in my life.  Good friends, who I can almost anticipate the moves of, who we can lean on, who we laugh with, who we trust, who we really enjoy being with... all of the time!  It's a great place to be.

Well that was a diversion!

Yesterday I slept in, so nice!  I woke up to a delightful smell and my husbands smiling face!  He brought me breakfast.  How great is he?  Loved that!  Well, this is a photo that I took much later in the day, my half eaten breakfast still sitting on my bed!  How gross is that?!  I ate for a minute then got up to do something and never came back!  One thing always leads to another with me!!!

Q has been wanting some new boots and from the moment I even hinted we may go out yesterday she was all over me... mom can you shower now?  Mom, can we go?  Are we even going?  I debated and we finally went shopping.  Normally you don't have to twist my arm much to get me to go shopping!  Shows how much I didn't want to stop my flow!

I'm so glad we went.  I don't take her shopping very often and she is getting old enough to where she wants to pick out her own stuff.  We had a great time and totally got matching shoes!  Found them for her first and I was a little jealous... until we found mine too!  So fun!  She is my little fashionista and is really coming into her own.  Love my girl!
