5 on Friday: Jobs, Prep, Colors, Annoying Things and a Melting Heart

Welcome to Five Things Friday.

Friday's here are dedicated to keeping a record, in the tiniest of snippets, if need be.
It seems the big moments hold place quite easily, it's the little everyday things that slip right out of memory, unless they are recorded somehow.

I love to write, to journal.  I always have.  Do you?
If you struggle with what to write I invite you to join in.  Use these prompts to tell and record your own life story.

5 Jobs I Had Growing Up:
- Very first job was for my 1st grade teacher, in 6th grade, grading school papers.
- Cleaning my 1st grade teacher's house, helping with her classroom (junior high)
- Retail - The Limited (high school)
- Retail - a children's clothes store maybe KidsMart... in the VF mall. (high school)
- Roller skating referee/floor guard at the Galleria fun center (high school)

5 Things I'm Prepping For:
- Grand Island Half Marathon
- Relief Society activity in May
- MOW Breakfast of Hope, which I'm speaking at
- The talk I'm giving at church
- Moving

5 Of My Favorite Colors:
5 Things That Annoy Me:
- When I volunteer for cafeteria duty and instead of saying what they need, kids look at me and hand me their go-gurt, or chips or whatever.  I stare back at them and say 'What can I help you with?'  I won't help them until they use their words nicely!
- When my kids get sassy with me... I'm quick to put them back in their place.  Just talk to me nicely, with respect and the world is a happy place! :)
- When my nails crack or snag way up high into my nail bed... grrrr.
- When I pick up my house phone and the little person on the other end says 'hey....' then is silent.  Really?  If you are going to call me on my old fashioned home phone, then use old fashioned manners... Greet with a hello, then identify yourself, then ask for whomever you'd like to speak to!
I see how cell phones have played a part of changing our phone greetings, but this isn't my cell phone, therefore, say hello and at the very least ask for my son... don't sit there!  I end up saying hello back, then ask who it is, then ask if this boy would like to speak to my son!  Annoying!
- Having to wear my snow coat at the end of April!

5 Things That Melt My Heart:
- When G randomly comes up to hug me.  He's pretty much a daddy's boy.  When I get un-requested love I'm like a puddle of goo!
- When I get a random text during the day from my man.  Simple really.  It melts my heart when I know he is thinking of me during his busy work day.
- Seeing my daughter tear up at the thought of spending the night away from me.
- When E says to me at random, "Mom, I love you more than you love me."
- O's big crocodile tears.  He is one of those kids that seems all tough, but is so sensitive.  I am all his when those big tears fall!  Sometimes I have to watch myself to make sure I am being fair to all involved because he sucks me right in!

Family Happenings:
- I visited with Florence this week.  I just love her.
- I cut layers into my own hair!  I need to lighten it.
- Q bbsat for the first time.  It was for just an hour, for our good friend, but still, it was a pretty big deal.
- O learned how to ride his big 2 wheeler!
- We had our final walk through for this house.  It went well!
- We played with the Maynes on Monday.  We had so much fun!
- E and Q had friends over to play on Thursday.
- M and G are going on an overnight camp out tonight.  I am happy to stay home with the other 3!
